What this directory covers

This directory brings together multi-family offices, trust-company services, advisory groups and providers of family administration. Their offerings overlap, but their fees and operating arrangements differ. Some services come from a separate affiliate or an outside professional; an investment adviser’s published fee may cover only part of the relationship.

Providers at a glance

Start with the service you need to buy. Investment advice, a planning engagement and responsibility for paying bills are different assignments, even when one group offers all three.

How this list works: Unranked; alphabetical A–Z; no numerical scoring. Inclusion reflects a documented family-office offering or public descriptor, not an endorsement. We distinguish verified services from missing evidence and identify material limitations. Read the methodology.

Reading the disclosures: A sourced value has a citation and document date. Not disclosed means the information was absent from the relevant public material checked; it does not mean the service is unavailable. Unverified means the evidence was inaccessible, conflicting or insufficient, with the reason given. A provider’s published capability is not evidence that every client receives it.

Provider entries

These entries follow the table’s alphabetical order and evidence standards. They describe offerings and disclosure limits; they do not assess service quality from firsthand testing. How we research providers.

AlTi Tiedemann Global

Model: Multi-family advisory platform. Adviser: Tiedemann Advisors, LLC, CRD 147189. US coverage: New York principal office; AlTi lists US offices. Other AlTi entities provide other services, including a separate trust company.1

AlTi’s family-office administration offering includes bill pay, bookkeeping, cash-flow reporting, entity administration and property coordination. It describes coordination with outside accountants and tax, estate and legal advisers. The administration page does not identify one contracting entity for every task.2

Fees and minimums: The March 27, 2026 Tiedemann Advisors client relationship summary says extended family-office work is typically flat-fee, without publishing the amount. Its generally required $25 million account balance, which may be waived, applies to the investment-advisory service. The separate investment-management rate is generally up to 0.85% of assets under management annually; custody, fund and other third-party costs may be additional. None of those figures establishes the price of a complete family-office administration engagement.3

Delivery to verify: Which entity signs the administration agreement, which staff perform the work, and which external professionals bill the family separately. Last checked October 19, 2026.

Aspiriant

Model: Multi-family office / wealth adviser. Entity: Aspiriant, LLC, CRD 146720. US coverage: Los Angeles headquarters; offices include San Francisco, Austin, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, New York, Orange County, San Diego and Silicon Valley. Its Exclusive Family Office offering describes service nationwide.45

Aspiriant describes a dedicated Exclusive Family Office team covering investment and wealth planning, tax, trusts and estates, family governance, philanthropy, accounting and reporting. A dedicated team does not by itself establish who employs every specialist or who can authorize payments. The reviewed service pages do not define a general household or lifestyle operation.5

Fees and minimums: Its August 21, 2026 client relationship summary describes asset-based investment fees, some fixed investment fees, and planning retainers, hourly or fixed charges. It states no absolute account minimum and says it typically serves investment portfolios of $1.5 million or more. That is general advisory-relationship information; a current Exclusive Family Office engagement price is not disclosed in the reviewed service pages.45

Delivery to verify: The Exclusive Family Office’s tax and administration responsibilities, payment authority and separately billed work. Exact current numerical advisory rates were not verified in this review. Last checked October 19, 2026.

Ballentine Partners

Model: Multi-family office. Entity: Ballentine Partners, LLC, CRD 152802. US offices: Waltham and Boston, Massachusetts; Wolfeboro and Rochester, New Hampshire; Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.67

Ballentine’s Family Office service can act as a family CIO, with discretionary or non-discretionary investment arrangements, and coordinate the family’s other advisers. Its brochure also lists trust and entity administration, governance, education, philanthropy, bill payment and lifestyle capabilities involving aircraft, homes and household staff. These are engagement-specific capabilities.6

Fees and minimums: The March 17, 2026 brochure’s Family Office schedule runs from 0.60% to 0.10% of assets under management annually, subject to a $180,000 minimum annual fee. Negotiated fixed fees are generally $180,000 to $500,000 and can be higher or lower with service level, scope and complexity; the range’s covered period is not expressly stated. Optional bill-pay administration typically costs $10,000 to $50,000 per year, with case-by-case pricing that can be much higher. These are separate fee provisions, not an all-in family cost range. A Family Office-specific asset minimum was not established in the reviewed brochure.6

Delivery to verify: Which personnel perform administration, how payment approvals work and whether selected services require separate fees or agreements. Last checked October 19, 2026.

Bessemer Trust

Model: Multi-family office / trust business. Entity scope: Bessemer Trust is a public brand spanning separately chartered bank, trust and advisory entities. Bessemer Investment Management LLC, CRD 112215, is an adviser affiliate, not the entire family-office business. US coverage: New York headquarters and a US office network.8910

Bessemer’s family-office services page lists custody and consolidated reporting, private banking, bill payment, accounting and bookkeeping. Household-employment support includes hiring, payroll, benefits and training. That establishes a defined employment-support capability; it does not establish that Bessemer directly operates every aspect of a household.10

Fees and minimums: The public fee page directs clients to their adviser. A current firmwide minimum or family-office fee was not disclosed in the reviewed material. The investment-management affiliate’s filing cannot supply the missing whole-relationship price.911

Delivery to verify: The legal entity responsible for each banking, trust, investment and administrative service, and whether each has a separate agreement or charge. Last checked October 19, 2026.

Corient

Model: Advisory group with family-office affiliate. Family-office entity: Corient Family Office LLC. Corient separately identifies tax, trust-company and aviation affiliates. US coverage: Miami headquarters and a US office network.12

Its Personal CFO offering includes bookkeeping, accounting, reporting, bill pay and vendor management. An expanded service level can include bank-account signing authority, entity and lifestyle management, household-staff human resources and property support. Office-structuring services describe operational build-out and work with network attorneys; the family-office entity is not an accounting firm.121330

Fees and minimums: A family-office price or minimum was not disclosed in the reviewed sources. Corient’s disclosure says family-office and tax work may require separate agreements and additional fees.12

Source limitation: The website and a June 7, 2026 adviser disclosure conflict on one investment entity’s legal name; its terms are omitted. The family-office entity above is separately identified in the group disclosure. Last checked October 19, 2026.1231

Cresset

Model: Multi-family office. Entity scope: Cresset Asset Management, LLC, CRD 288566, is the investment adviser. Cresset Family Office, LLC and Rosewood Family Advisors provide family-office services; Cresset Tax Services, LLC and trust-company affiliates have other roles. US coverage: Chicago headquarters and US offices.1415

Cresset lists investment management, tax and estate strategy, trust services, CFO support, governance and lifestyle services. Its menu extends to aviation and travel, home management, healthcare advocacy and security. The affiliate disclosures matter: a broad menu does not mean one legal entity performs every task or includes it in one fee.1516

Fees and minimums: A universal family-office minimum and engagement price were not disclosed in the reviewed pages. Cresset Asset Management’s investment-advisory terms do not establish the price of work performed by its family-office or tax affiliates.1415

Delivery to verify: The staff, affiliate or outside provider responsible for each operational service, who signs its contract, and how additional charges are approved. Last checked October 19, 2026.

Glenmede

Model: Trust-company family-office services. Entity scope: The Glenmede Trust Company, N.A. provides private-wealth trust and fiduciary services. Glenmede Investment Management, LP, CRD 108165, is a separate investment adviser. US coverage: Philadelphia headquarters, with offices in Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Florida and Washington, DC.1718

Glenmede describes investment management, planning, wealth administration, trust and philanthropic services for individuals, families and family offices. Its family-office material includes administration and client-information management. Detailed bill-pay authority and a general household, travel or property operation were not established in the sources reviewed.1719

Fees and minimums: A current public private-wealth or family-office relationship minimum and fee schedule were not identified. Glenmede Investment Management’s separately disclosed investment-program fees and minimums apply to that adviser, not automatically to trust-company clients.18

Delivery to verify: Which entity provides investment, fiduciary and administrative services, and where planning advice ends and execution by another professional begins. Last checked October 19, 2026.

Mayfair

Model: Private Family Office, the descriptor on Mayfair’s company LinkedIn profile, which links to mayfair.co and states that access is by introduction.20

Entity and US coverage: Unverified. Accessible public material did not establish the contracting entity, office locations or US service coverage.

Services and delivery: Unverified. We could not retrieve the live website during the October 19, 2026 research check. The available company profile supports the descriptor above, but does not establish staffing, operational responsibilities, contracting arrangements or decision authority.20

Fees and minimums: Unverified. No public fee basis, amount or minimum was established from the accessible sources checked.

What to obtain: A service agreement identifying the entity, work performed, people responsible, authority, exclusions and complete pricing. The limited evidence prevents the same depth of operational comparison available for other entries. Last checked October 19, 2026.

Pathstone

Model: Advisory and family-office services. Entity: Pathstone Family Office, LLC, CRD 151736. US coverage: Englewood, New Jersey headquarters and a US office network; some locations are affiliates.21

Pathstone’s current capabilities include investment advice, tax and estate work, fiduciary planning, family governance, philanthropy, personal-CFO support, bill pay, reporting and lifestyle/property management. The page says some services may be performed by third parties under separate agreements.22

Its March 31, 2025 brochure expressly describes in-house professional services, generally selected à la carte, including accounting, tax and extended family-office work. That older staffing statement and the current third-party disclosure should be read together; neither establishes the delivery arrangement for a new engagement. The 2025 brochure also says the firm does not provide legal advice.2232

Fees and minimums: Current family-office fees and minimums remain unverified: the current detailed fee pages were not available for inspection. Obtain the fee schedule for the selected advisory and professional services before comparing a proposal with another provider’s retainer.

Delivery to verify: The current in-house/third-party split, the professional-services agreement and the cost of each selected function. Last checked October 19, 2026.

Rockefeller Global Family Office

Model: Advisory and family-office division of Rockefeller Capital Management. Adviser: Rockefeller & Co. LLC, CRD 294197. Rockefeller Financial LLC is a separate brokerage/advisory affiliate. US coverage: New York headquarters and a US office network.232425

Its brochure describes investment advice, planning, Family Office Counseling and selected operational services, including bill pay and financial reporting. A broad platform relationship can involve affiliates; the materials reviewed do not establish a general operation managing household staff, properties or travel.25

Fees and minimums: The March 2026 brochure discloses a $75,000 to $500,000 annual retainer for Holistic Financial Planning and typically $35,000 to $75,000 annually for Family Office Counseling. A separate planning analysis/report is $15,000 to $25,000, typically for a six-month engagement. Bill pay, reporting and tax planning can have separate fixed annual or hourly charges. Fees are negotiable. These are named service prices, not interchangeable packages or a universal all-in office cost.25

Delivery to verify: Which service the quote covers, the division of work among entities and outside professionals, and separate investment, brokerage and operational charges. A universal division-wide asset or net-worth minimum was not disclosed in the reviewed brochure. Last checked October 19, 2026.

WE Family Offices

Model: Family-wealth advice and coordination. Entity: WE Family Offices, LLC, CRD 109869. US offices: Coral Gables, Florida and New York, New York.2627

WE describes non-discretionary investment oversight, succession, tax and estate planning, governance, education, philanthropy and consolidated reporting. It helps families select outside providers and implement chosen approaches; clients retain investment implementation authority. Its offering for existing single-family offices can be project-based or ongoing in selected capacities.2728

The reviewed material does not establish that WE directly prepares legal documents or tax returns, pays household bills or operates a household team. Ask which responsibilities stay with the family and its other providers.27

Fees and minimums: WE’s March 31, 2026 CRS publishes negotiated flat-fee guidelines with a $200,000 minimum, but does not explicitly state the period those amounts cover. Fees are generally payable quarterly in arrears; a payment schedule does not establish the covered fee period. The net-worth-based guideline bands do not establish a contractual net-worth admission floor. Obtain the period and full price in the proposal.29

Delivery to verify: Who executes each recommendation, how outside providers are supervised and how advice and reporting are priced. Last checked October 19, 2026.

How to compare operating models

An industry label describes an arrangement only loosely. Campden Wealth and RBC distinguish dedicated, embedded and virtual single-family offices, family-owned multi-family offices and commercial multi-family offices. Providers may use the same terms differently.33

Term Working meaning What the label does not establish
Single-family office
An office organized for one family; it may stand alone or sit within a family business.33
Which employees or outside firms do each task, or whether it meets a particular regulatory exclusion.
Multi-family office
An organization serving multiple families; ownership can sit with families or a commercial provider.33
Whether the team is dedicated, what is included, or whether the provider has investment discretion.
Outsourced / virtual family office
An arrangement using outside specialists, often with a smaller coordinating team.33
Who employs the coordinator, signs specialist contracts, owns systems or authorizes decisions.
Trust-company family-office services
A descriptive label for services offered alongside a trust-company business, as in Glenmede’s offering.1719
That trust, investment and administrative work share one contract or fee.
Advisory group with family-office affiliate or division
A descriptive label separating an advisory business from its family-office service entity or division, as in Corient and Rockefeller.122325
That one adviser’s filing covers every affiliate or service.
Private Family Office
Mayfair’s public descriptor.20
A standardized legal category, verified service scope or investment-management role.

The SEC’s family-office rule addresses a particular exclusion from the federal definition of investment adviser. Its conditions concern family clients, ownership, control and public holding-out; it does not supply a universal commercial classification or a minimum net worth.34 Use the model comparison to examine responsibility and control alongside price.

What to verify before hiring

Sources, methodology and disclosures

This directory is based on desk research. Filings establish entity-specific disclosures; provider pages establish what a firm says it offers. Neither is proof of service quality. Prices retain the service, entity and period named in their source. Missing public information remains visible rather than being filled with estimates.

The entries use the same evidence standards. No provider has a publication approval right. Family Office Quarters currently has no paid listings, referral or lead fees, affiliate arrangements, sponsorships or advertising. Read the methodology, how we make money and the editorial policy.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose a family-office provider?

Write down the recurring work first, then ask each candidate to identify who will perform it, who has authority and which agreement covers the fee. The entries above show why this matters: some groups separate investment, tax, trust and administrative services across entities.81215 Compare the service scope alongside the commercial terms.

Are these the best family-office companies?

This is an unranked directory. It compares documented offerings and evidence gaps without scores or a claim that one provider suits every family. The methodology explains the evidence standards and the limits of desk research.

Do all family offices manage investments?

Check the specific service. WE describes non-discretionary investment advice and oversight, while other entries disclose arrangements that can include discretionary management. An administration or planning agreement should not be assumed to grant investment authority.3627

How much do family-office providers charge?

Public prices are service-specific. Ballentine publishes an annual minimum under its asset-based Family Office schedule, and Rockefeller publishes distinct planning and counseling retainers. Other entries do not disclose a comparable family-office price, or their detailed current fee evidence remains unverified.625 The cost guide separates those provider fees from an office’s operating budget and outside investment costs.

Is there a minimum net worth?

The SEC family-office exclusion does not set a minimum net worth. Providers can describe commercial thresholds with other bases: Tiedemann Advisors gives an investment-advisory account minimum, while Aspiriant describes the portfolio size it typically serves without setting an absolute account minimum.3434 Neither becomes a universal wealth threshold.
